I’ve been a project manager since the 80’s (yikes). In my early days, I was not a people person. I was anything but emotionally intelligent.
I only began learning about the importance of emotional intelligence in the early 2000’s. I had to learn the hard way how to understand what I was feeling, listen to others with empathy, and build real connections and relationships.
Developing these new skills opened up a lot of doors for me. I feel like they are essential to success as a project manager, or nearly anything else for that matter. And this led to the publishing of my first book, Emotional Intelligence for Project Managers.
In my blogs here and in my book, I have tried to share my experience and learning as open and candidly as possible. I hope what I have written is helpful to you.

Additional Background On Anthony Mersino
Anthony Mersino founded the Project Advisors Group in 2001. As a project delivery consultant, he had the opportunity to work in some excellent organizations including:

- National Opinion Research Center
- Wolters Kluwer
- ESI International
- Northwestern University
Prior to founding the Project Advisors Group, Anthony held project leadership positions at several firms including:
- FutureNext Corporation (now defunct)
- Unisys Corporation
- Ameritech Corporation
- IBM Corporation
Anthony has an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, and earned his M.B.A. from Loyola University of Maryland.
Anthony is a member of the Project Management Institute and has been a PMI certified Project Management Professional since 1995.
